Today we sat our exam for Level 1. I think it was a perfectly pitched exam that covered a range of topics from the term. At the end I felt really happy that I could quickly articluate my new Google learning, as well as intergrate some of the MK Kaupapa alongside.
Within the feedback section of today I did talk about the range of topics that we have covered and how they were suited to my own place and space in the school setting. I feel that I have defintely gained more useable knowledge around Cybersmart and Intergrating more ICT into the classroom. I did comment about the collegiual aspect of MK and that this, and the passion seen by the Educators, was its stand out feature within the PLD domain.
The thoughts I had about MK for my future understanding and use of Digital tech was being abke to visit other teachers in my position both in class age as well as class needs. This would have been fantastic if we could have ( I understand Covid prevented us) while training. It could be something that may happen in the future with more schools uptaking DFI training.
I also wondered about having a few more papers, discussions or reflections about students of high needs using tech and the affect on their speech / language and cognitve abilites. In our area we are finding that maybe half a class of students are not ready for formal learning until they are 7...so where would ICT fit in this enviroment. Can we be loading children with Digital procedure and protocol ready for Chromebook usage in Year 3/4 or should it developing the DPA in a balanced Literate and Numerate setting?
Planning has been a huge part of my interst in DFI. Again a topic that will take more time for me to digest and review to eventually see the alignment with Teacher Appraisal and best practice within the school setting. Maybe as the school continues to develop their Annual planning alongside its digital practice we can unpack how planning look as a staff.
Best of luck to all the DFI staff and my face to face then Online learning buddies! Thank you for all your support, guidance and laughter!
